You should know, I love to focus on self care. Did you know that self care is not just about when you're in the bath or or journaling on the couch, but literally whenever and wherever!Â
That means taking care of yourself during during working out. By making small changes to your exercise routine eg. (space or activity) you can make a huge difference in the way you feel during and after.
Here are some self-care principals, to make your workouts better, you will look forward to them more and get great results!
#1: LISTEN TO GOOD MUSIC
Such a small thing, but it can make a huge difference! When I want to get super pumped up, Iâll turn on more aggressive music. Music that makes you feel energised and motivated can make your workout a really positive routine for you! Click here for our 'Girls Rule The World' Playlist
#2: LIFT WEIGHTSâŚÂ
When babes look for a workout routine for beginners or at home, theyâll usually start with bodyweight exercises. But if you want to get more results from your workouts, try adding in some weight. Even a little bit can help you sculpt and tone more quickly.Â
#3: ⌠AND MAKE SURE THEYâRE FREE WEIGHTS
Sometimes I think that free weights are actually way better for you! Your muscles have to stabilise your movement. Which means a better workout with basically the same amount of effort!Â
#4: SWAP STRETCHING FOR A DYNAMIC WARMUP
If stretching bores the life out of you, you donât need to force yourself to do it. Remember, practice self-care all the time, and that means skipping stuff you don't want to force yourself to do.
Instead of stretching, try a dynamic warmup eg. a brisk walk or jumping jacks. Doing something to get your blood pumping can help you head into your workout feeling energised!Â
#7: DRINK WATER
Your body NEEDS water to run. Sipping on H2O throughout the day is one of the best acts of self-care you can do. Make sure youâre well-hydrated heading into your workout and youâll feel more energised during it, I promise!
#8: GET A BETTER NIGHTâS SLEEP
Sleep is KEY. If youâre exhausted before you even lace up your sneakers, how are you supposed to smash your workouts?Â
Workouts and sleep go hand-in-hand. When youâre exercising regularly, youâll sleep better. And when you sleep better, youâll feel better and stronger during your workouts. Basically, youâre never going to have your best session if youâre sleep-deprived.
